Say 'No' to Colombia Trade Deal

With the U.S. economy in near free fall, President Bush has sent the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to Capitol Hill. Bush wants to unilaterally force a fast-track vote. The Colombia FTA is wrong for workers both in the United States and Colombia.

An all-out, nationwide mobilization to let members of Congress know that working Americans oppose this deal begins today. Tell your representative in Congress to oppose this deal.

As the fight gears up, we need to know whose side your members of Congress are on.

Colombia's unionists operate in a climate of fear in their country. In 2007 alone, 39 Colombian trade unionists were murdered.

And the Colombian government continues to systematically undermine union members' rights—their freedom to form unions, bargain collectively, go on strike and criticize the government.

Tell your representative to say no to a trade deal with Colombia until their government makes real progress in protecting the lives and rights of union members. Go to this link to take action now:
